1. On May 15, 1852, the first public school was established in the state of Utah. It was called the Salt Lake City School District and was located on State Street in downtown Salt Lake City.

2. The famous Pony Express route passed through Utah on May 15, 1860. The riders carried mail from St. Joe, Missouri to Sacramento, California.

3. The Salt Lake City and County Building, a historic government building located in Salt Lake City, was dedicated on May 15, 1894.

4. On May 15, 1929, the first airline flight between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles took place. The flight took nine hours and was operated by Western Air Express.

5. May 15, 1958, marked the opening of the Lagoon amusement park in Farmington, Utah. It has since become a popular local attraction with over 50 rides and attractions.
