2. The infamous outlaw Bonnie Parker was born on May 23, 1910, in Rowena, Texas. Although not an Oklahoman, Bonnie and her partner Clyde Barrow committed multiple robberies and murders in Oklahoma during their crime spree in the 1930s.

3. On May 23, 1934, Oklahoma's first skyscraper was completed. The Philtower Building in Tulsa was designed by renowned architect Edward Durrell Stone and stood at 24 stories tall.

4. In 1996, on May 23, a deadly tornado struck the town of Shoshone in Oklahoma, causing extensive damage and killing one person.

5. On May 23, 2013, the National Memorial Day Museum was opened in the town of Frederick, Oklahoma. The museum honors American military personnel who have died in service, and contains displays and artifacts related to Memorial Day commemoration.
