1. In 1844, the first newspaper in Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Sentinel, was founded.

2. In 1883, the town of La Crosse experienced its worst tornado on record with 16 people killed and over 200 injured.

3. In 1935, the Milwaukee Art Museum opened its new building designed by architect David Adler in collaboration with local architects. Today, the museum is known for its iconic wings that open and close like the wings of a bird.

4. In 1958, the Milwaukee Braves played their first game at County Stadium. The Braves, who had moved to Milwaukee from Boston two years earlier, won the game 8-2 against the Cincinnati Reds.

5. In 1987, Green Bay Packers legend Bart Starr was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Starr was a quarterback for the Packers from 1956 to 1971 and led the team to five NFL championships, including the first two Super Bowls.
