1. In 1878, the city of Leadville was incorporated in Colorado. The town grew quickly thanks to the local silver mines, which became the largest silver mining district in the country.

2. In 1907, the first Denver Auto Show was held in the city's downtown area. The exhibition featured many of the latest automobile models at the time and was a popular event for car enthusiasts.

3. In 1932, the city of Pueblo was hit by a devastating tornado that killed at least seven people and caused extensive damage to many buildings in the city.

4. In 1977, the Denver Broncos hired their first African American head coach, Red Miller. Miller led the team to its first Super Bowl appearance in 1978 and was later inducted into the team's Ring of Fame.

5. In 2013, the Colorado state legislature passed a bill legalizing the use and sale of recreational marijuana, becoming one of the first states in the country to do so. The law went into effect in January 2014 and has since generated billions in tax revenue for the state.
