4. 1950 - A tornado struck the town of Halliday in western North Dakota, causing significant damage and killing one person. The tornado was part of a severe weather outbreak that hit the region that day.

5. 2009 - The North Dakota Supreme Court ruled that a sentencing enhancement for drug offenses based on proximity to a school was unconstitutional. The ruling led to changes in the state's drug laws and sentencing guidelines.
