4. In 1911, the Arkansas State Capitol building was completed in Little Rock. The building features a dome modeled after the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C.
5. In 1958, the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees voted to admit African American students to the university, marking a significant step forward in the civil rights movement in the state. The first African American students would be admitted a few years later, in 1964.
