1. Idaho becomes a state

On November 1, 1973, the Boise Cascade Tower was officially opened in downtown Boise. At 18 stories tall, it was the tallest building in Idaho at the time and served as the headquarters for the Boise Cascade Corporation until 1987.

November 1, 1920, marked the unveiling of the newly reconstructed Idaho State Capitol Building in Boise. The previous building had been destroyed by a fire in 1917, and the new structure was designed in a neoclassical style with a copper dome.

On November 1, 1892, N.B. Willey became the first Idahoan to be elected to Congress. He served as a Representative from the first congressional district from 1893 to 1895.

5. Idaho senator dies in a plane crash
On November 1, 1954, Senator Herman Welker of Idaho died in a plane crash in Alaska. Welker had been flying to a hunting trip when his plane crashed into a mountain, killing all on board. Welker had represented Idaho in the Senate from 1951 until his death.
