1. In 1765, a group of Maryland farmers and laborers formed the "Frederick County Sons of Liberty" to protest British taxation policies. This group would become a key player in the American Revolution and the fight for independence.

2. On November 14, 1791, the "Potomac Company" was incorporated by Maryland, Virginia and the federal government. This company was tasked with improving navigation on the Potomac River and would later become the inspiration for the creation of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal.

3. In 1835, Baltimore's first medical school, "The College of Medicine of Maryland", was founded on November 14th. Today, the institution is known as the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is one of the top research-based medical schools in the country.

4. On November 14, 1907, the "Great Baltimore Fire" devastated the city, destroying over 1,500 buildings and causing millions of dollars in damage. The fire led to the creation of new fire codes and building regulations that are still in use today.

5. Maryland native and baseball legend Babe Ruth was born on November 14, 1895, in Baltimore. Ruth would go on to become one of the greatest baseball players of all time, breaking numerous records during his career and revolutionizing the sport.
