1. In 1836, Arkansas became the 25th state of the United States. The territory had previously been part of the Louisiana Purchase and was known as the Arkansas Territory. The admission of Arkansas as a state was part of the Compromise of 1850, which allowed for the expansion of slavery in some western territories while prohibiting it in others.

2. On November 15, 1957, nine African American students attempted to integrate Little Rock Central High School, in compliance with a federal court order. The students faced harassment and violence from white protesters, and Governor Orval Faubus ordered the National Guard to prevent the students from entering the school. President Dwight D. Eisenhower eventually sent federal troops to enforce the court order and protect the students.

3. In 1874, the Brooks-Baxter War broke out in Little Rock, Arkansas. The conflict was a political power struggle between Republicans Joseph Brooks and Elisha Baxter, who both claimed to be the rightful governor of Arkansas. The dispute was eventually settled by the state supreme court, which sided with Baxter.

4. On November 15, 1978, a fire broke out at the Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas, known as the West Pest Control fire. The fire spread quickly and ultimately destroyed over 63,000 acres of forest land. The cause of the fire was never officially determined.

5. In 1906, Little Rock hosted its first Arkansas State Fair. The annual event highlights the agriculture and industry of the state and draws visitors from across Arkansas and surrounding states. The fair features livestock exhibits, food vendors, carnival rides, and live entertainment. Today, the Arkansas State Fair is one of the largest fairs in the region.
