1. In 1903, the University of Idaho in Moscow opened its doors to students for the first time. The campus, which started with only four buildings, has since grown to encompass over 1,500 acres.

2. On November 17, 1920, Idaho Governor D.W. Davis signed the Idaho Child Labor Law, which prohibited the employment of children under the age of 14. The law was a major victory for child welfare advocates who had been pushing for such legislation for years.

3. The Idaho State Capitol building in Boise was dedicated on November 17, 1920. The building took over 13 years to construct and cost nearly $2 million dollars.

4. On November 17, 1985, a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck the Boise National Forest, causing severe damage and claiming two lives. The quake was felt throughout Idaho and several neighboring states.

5. In 2015, Idaho became the 11th state in the U.S. to legalize same-sex marriage, following a Supreme Court ruling earlier that year. On November 17, hundreds of couples across the state flocked to courthouses to obtain marriage licenses and tie the knot.
