4. In 2003, Ohio native and astronaut David Wolf spent his 128th day in space aboard the International Space Station. He conducted several scientific experiments before returning to Earth.

5. Cleveland author Toni Morrison was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom on November 17, 2012, by President Barack Obama. Morrison, who was born in Lorain, Ohio, is considered one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.
