1. In 1867, the first issue of the Cheyenne Daily Leader was published in Cheyenne. It was the first daily newspaper in Wyoming.

2. In 1880, the town of Laramie was incorporated. Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming and is known for its rich history as a stop on the Overland Trail and a major hub for the Union Pacific Railroad.

3. In 1890, Wyoming became the 44th state to join the United States. It was the first state to grant women the right to vote and hold public office.

4. In 1909, the United States Forest Service was established in Wyoming. This government agency is responsible for managing national forests and grasslands across the country.

5. In 1970, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the western part of Wyoming, causing significant damage to buildings and infrastructure. The earthquake was felt as far away as Idaho and Montana.
