1. In 1734, the first printing press in South Carolina was established by Lewis Timothy in Charleston. The press produced several newspapers including the South Carolina Gazette and the Country Journal.

2. On November 2, 1775, a group of South Carolina delegates led by Christopher Gadsden signed the "American Association of South Carolina," a document that pledged support for the Continental Congress and the cause of American independence.

3. In 1865, less than a year after the end of the Civil War, the South Carolina Constitutional Convention met in Charleston to draft a new state constitution. The convention was made up of delegates from across the state, including several African American representatives.

4. On November 2, 1892, Susan LaFleur became the first woman to vote in South Carolina. LaFleur was able to vote in the state's first general election after the passage of the 19th Amendment which granted women the right to vote.

5. In 1910, the first Carolina-Clemson football game was played on November 2. Clemson won the game 6-0, but the rivalry between the two schools continues to this day, with the annual game typically played in November.
