1. 1788 - Oregon's First Recorded Thanksgiving
November 21, 1788 marked Oregon's first recorded Thanksgiving. The feast was held by traders with the Columbia Fur Company on the Columbia River.
2. 1844 - The Champoeg Meeting
A significant event in Oregon history, the Champoeg Meeting was held on May 2, 1843. A follow-up meeting was held on November 21, 1844. At these meetings, settlers created a provisional government, independent of the government of the United States, and elected officials to run it.
3. 1885 - The Execution of Two Murderers
On November 21, 1885, two murderers were executed in Salem. Albert Mansfield killed his wife in 1883, and Joseph Kimball killed his father in 1884. They were hanged together in what is now known as Salem's Bush Pasture Park.
4. 1906 - Governor George Chamberlain Takes Office
