1. On November 25, 1863, Union forces under General Nathaniel Banks occupied the Port of Sabine Pass, Texas. The capture of this key Confederate port allowed Union forces to more effectively blockade the Gulf of Mexico, cutting off important supplies to the Confederacy.

2. In 1915, the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas hosted the first college football game held in the state. The game, played between the University of Texas and Texas A&M, ended in a 13-0 victory for the Longhorns.

3. The Texas School Book Depository, located in Dallas, became infamous on November 22, 1963, when Lee Harvey Oswald fired shots from the sixth floor of the building, assassinating President John F. Kennedy. On November 25, Oswald himself was gunned down by nightclub owner Jack Ruby while being transferred from a Dallas police station to a county jail.

4. On November 25, 1981, the National Ranching Heritage Center was established in Lubbock, Texas. The center is dedicated to preserving the history and traditions of ranching in the American West, and features a wide range of exhibits and artifacts.

5. In 2015, Texas became the first state to issue its own gold-backed currency, the Texas Bullion Depository. The depository allows individuals and institutions to store and trade physical gold and silver, and serves as an alternative to traditional banking and financial systems.
