1. In 1889, Washington became the 42nd state in the United States. November 25th marks the anniversary of this historic event.
2. On November 25, 1915, Everett Massacre occurred in which at least 5 striking workers and 2 other people were killed by local authorities and vigilantes. This was one of the deadliest moments in Washington State’s labor history.
3. In 1961, the The Seattle World's Fair officially opened and ran until October 21, 1962. The fair was built on 74 acres in Seattle's Lower Queen Anne neighborhood, centered around the Space Needle.
4. On November 25, 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted after more than 120 years of inactivity. The eruption was triggered by an earthquake that caused the mountain’s north face to slide off the mountain. The resulting landslide released the mountain’s pent-up steam and gas, leading to one of the deadliest volcanic eruptions in US history.
5. On November 25, 2013, Seattle Seahawks defeated the New Orleans Saints in a Monday Night Football game. This game is remembered for the record-breaking noise levels reached by the Seahawks fans at CenturyLink Field, which registered at 137.6 decibels and earned the stadium the nickname “the loudest stadium in the world.”
