Developed by Malcolm McLean, the ship could carry 58 metal containers, each the size of a truck trailer. 5. In 2002, Maryland Governor Parris Glendening signed a statewide smoking ban into law. The ban prohibited smoking in all enclosed public places, including bars, restaurants, and workplaces.
