1. Kentucky became the 15th state in the United States on June 1, 1792, but on November 27, 1811, the New Madrid earthquake shook the entire state. The earthquake, which had an estimated magnitude of 7.2-8.1, caused widespread destruction across the region, and many buildings and homes were destroyed. The earthquake was felt across an area of approximately 2,500,000 square kilometers and was one of the most powerful seismic events in the history of the United States.

2. On November 27, 1862, the famous battle of Cane Hill took place in the northwest corner of Arkansas, near the border with Missouri. Led by Brigadier General John M.
