1. In 1833, William Becknell established the Santa Fe Trail, opening trade between Missouri and Santa Fe, New Mexico. This trail helped establish trade and commerce in New Mexico, bringing in goods such as textiles and firearms.

2. On November 27, 1911, New Mexico passed a constitutional amendment allowing women to vote. This made New Mexico one of the first states in the nation to grant women the right to vote, nine years before the 19th Amendment was ratified.

3. In 1978, the deadliest accident in New Mexico aviation history occurred when a plane carrying the University of Evansville basketball team crashed near Santa Fe, killing all 29 on board. This tragedy led to greater safety measures and regulations for air travel.

4. On November 27, 1992, the final part of the Great Peace March for Global Nuclear Disarmament arrived in Santa Fe. The march had started in Los Angeles nine months earlier and covered over 3,700 miles in total, raising awareness about the dangers of nuclear weapons.

5. The New Mexico School for the Deaf was established on November 27, 1887. It was the first of its kind in the state and provided education and resources for deaf and hard of hearing students. Today, the school continues to serve students in New Mexico and surrounding areas.
