2. Atomic testing: On November 28, 1953, the United States conducted a nuclear test at the Nevada Test Site, located 65 miles north of Las Vegas. Many of the testing sites were visible from Las Vegas, and the explosions became a popular tourist attraction.

3. Hoover Dam: The Hoover Dam, one of the largest dams in the world, was dedicated on November 28, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The dam, located on the Colorado River, straddles the border between Nevada and Arizona.

4. Reno Air Races tragedy: On November 28, 2011, tragedy struck the Reno Air Races when a vintage P-51 Mustang airplane crashed into the crowd, killing 11 people and injuring over 70 others. The incident was the deadliest air show disaster in U.S. history.

5. Wildfires: In November 2020, Nevada experienced its largest wildfire of the year, the Mountain View Fire. The fire burned over 20,000 acres of land near Reno and destroyed several structures. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
