1. Arkansas became a state on November 29, 1836. It was the 25th state to join the United States.
2. On November 29, 1864, the Battle of Prairie Grove took place in northwest Arkansas during the Civil War. The Union forces were able to defeat the Confederate army and prevent them from advancing any further into Missouri.
3. In 1910, the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright visited Little Rock, Arkansas and gave a lecture at the University of Arkansas. This was one of only two visits he made to the state in his lifetime.
4. On November 29, 1941, the University of Arkansas football team played the Oklahoma A&M Aggies in what would later become known as the "Ice Bowl". Temperatures were below freezing and the field was covered in snow, but the game still went on. Arkansas ultimately lost 0-0.
5. In 1999, President Bill Clinton made a visit to his home state of Arkansas to speak at the dedication of the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock. The museum houses artifacts and documents from Clinton's time in office as well as exhibits on American history and politics.
