1. Florida was admitted as the 27th state of the United States on March 3, 1845, but November 3 of the same year was the first time Floridians cast their ballots in a presidential election as a state.

2. In 1913, the St. Augustine News reported that a Floridian man named Mr. E.W. Wilbur claimed to have set a world record for "swallowing a dozen raw eggs in twenty-three and one-half seconds" on November 3 of that year.

3. The first female member of Congress elected from Florida, Ruth Bryan Owen, won her seat on November 3, 1928.

4. In 1992, Florida's gubernatorial election between Democrat Lawton Chiles, Republican Jeb Bush, and independent candidate Buddy MacKay was so close that it required a recount. On November 3, the day after the election, Bush was initially declared the winner by a margin of 23,44 votes, but the recount ultimately led to Chiles being declared the winner by just over 60,000 votes.
