1. In 1848, Wisconsin officially became a state, marking November 6th as its statehood anniversary. The state was the 30th state to be admitted to the United States.

2. In 1923, the Wisconsin Public Service Commission granted permission to the Wisconsin Telephone Company to establish a statewide telephone service. This was a significant development in Wisconsin's history, as it allowed for easier communication across the state.

3. On November 6, 1947, the Green Bay Packers played their first game at City Stadium, which is now known as Lambeau Field. The Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 25-17 in front of a crowd of nearly 25,000 people.

4. In 1951, Kenosha native and World War II veteran Arthur J. Jackson was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Battle of Peleliu in 1944. Jackson's courage and bravery in the face of danger made him a hero in the eyes of many Wisconsinites.

5. On November 6, 1984, Wisconsin's own Geraldine Ferraro became the first woman in U.S. history to be nominated for vice president by a major political party. Ferraro, who was running with presidential candidate Walter Mondale, made history with her groundbreaking nomination.
