4. In 1978, the Indiana State Museum opened its doors for the first time on the Indiana Statehouse grounds in Indianapolis. The museum houses exhibits on natural history, art, science, and culture.
5. In 1993, former Indiana University basketball coach Bob Knight was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Knight coached the Hoosiers from 1971 to 2000, leading them to three NCAA championships and earning a reputation as one of the most successful and controversial coaches in college basketball history.
