2. In 1851, the first cheese factory in the United States opened in the town of Rome, Wisconsin. By the turn of the century, Wisconsin had become the leading producer of cheese in the country.

3. In 1891, the first electric streetcar in Wisconsin began service in Milwaukee. The streetcar was an immediate success, and soon, other cities in Wisconsin, such as Madison and Racine, also had electric streetcar systems.

4. In 1917, the first radio station in Wisconsin, 9ZAB, went on the air in Madison. The station was operated by the University of Wisconsin.

5. In 1959, the Milwaukee Braves won the National League pennant, earning a spot in the World Series. Led by players such as Hank Aaron and Warren Spahn, the Braves went on to win the series in seven games, defeating the New York Yankees.
