3. In 1960, the Indianapolis Colts played their first game in the NFL, against the Chicago Bears. Despite a valiant effort, the Colts lost 17-16. The team would go on to win two Super Bowls in the years to come.

4. In 1998, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced plans to construct a new road course within the famed oval. The track would eventually host the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis in 2014, adding a new chapter to the history of motorsports in Indiana.

5. In 2019, Indian-American author and activist Arundhati Roy visited Indiana University Bloomington to deliver a lecture titled "In what language does rain fall over tormented cities?" Roy's work has been widely acclaimed for its insight into issues of social justice, and her appearance at IU offered a chance to hear from one of the most influential writers of our time.
