2. On October 25, 1947, the Arizona State Mental Hospital was dedicated. The hospital was built to provide treatment for patients with mental illness, and it operated until it was closed in 2018 due to safety concerns.

3. In 1991, the Grand Canyon National Park celebrated its 75th anniversary. The park was established in 1919 and has since become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the U.S.

4. On October 25, 1972, the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team played their first ever game. The team was founded in 1998 and has since won one World Series championship in 2001.

5. In 2012, the Phoenix Suns basketball team played their first game of the season on October 25. The Suns were founded in 1968 and have appeared in the NBA Finals twice, in 1976 and 1993.
