1. In 1864, the Battle of Hatcher's Run took place in Virginia during the Civil War. It was fought by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment, which suffered heavy casualties.

2. In 1892, the University of Minnesota played its first ever football game against Hamline University. The game ended in a 4-4 tie.

3. In 1956, the iconic Foshay Tower in Minneapolis was reopened after extensive renovations. The tower was built in 1929 and was the tallest building in Minneapolis until the IDS Center was built in 1972.

4. In 1991, Minnesota Twins pitcher Jack Morris pitched a 10-inning shutout in Game 7 of the World Series to lead the Twins to victory over the Atlanta Braves. Morris was named the Series MVP.

5. In 2017, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater returned to practice for the first time since suffering a devastating knee injury in August 2016. Although Bridgewater did not play in a game that season, his return to the field was a major milestone in his recovery.
