1. The Battle of Johnsonville took place on October 31, 1864 during the American Civil War. Confederate troops under the command of General Nathan Bedford Forrest attacked Union supply ships and warehouses along the Tennessee River in an effort to disrupt General William T. Sherman's supply line. Despite causing significant damage, the Confederate forces were unable to capture any ships, and the Union forces were eventually able to repel the attack.

2. On October 31, 1916, a massive fire broke out in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. The blaze, which is believed to have started in a wholesale grocery store, quickly spread to nearby buildings, consuming over 240 acres and destroying more than 1,000 buildings in the process. Despite the widespread devastation, no lives were lost as a result of the fire.

5. On October 31, 1999, a freak tornado outbreak swept through the state of Tennessee, causing widespread damage and claiming 12 lives. The tornadoes were part of a larger outbreak that affected several states in the midwestern and southeastern United States, and is considered one of the deadliest tornado outbreaks in modern history.
