2. In 1927, the first basketball game was played at Notre Dame's new basketball arena, the Joyce Center. The game was between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and St. Edward's University, with Notre Dame winning 40-18.

3. In 1933, the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum opened in Indianapolis. The first event held at the arena was a performance by the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
