1. In 1691, the first church was established in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, as a Congregational church.

2. In 1777, the Battle of Saratoga, a turning point in the American Revolution, ended with the surrender of British General John Burgoyne to American General Horatio Gates. Many soldiers from New Hampshire played pivotal roles in the battle, including Colonel John Stark, who led a successful attack on the British at the Battle of Bennington.

3. In 1849, the New Hampshire State Agriculture Society was established in Concord to promote the state's agricultural industry. Today, the New Hampshire Farm Bureau Federation continues to support the state's farming communities.

4. In 1870, the cornerstone for the New Hampshire Statehouse was laid in Concord. The building was completed in 1819 after several delays and still serves as the state's capitol building.

5. In 1984, Alex Mackenzie became the first openly gay elected official in New Hampshire when he was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives. He served in the House from 1985 to 1992 and advocated for LGBTQ+ rights throughout his tenure.
