1. In 1864, Nevada officially became the 36th state of the United States. Its admission to the Union was a significant milestone for the state and helped to boost its economy through increased federal funding for infrastructure and other projects.

2. On October 8, 1908, the town of Goldfield, Nevada was incorporated. Located in the heart of the state's mining region, Goldfield played a key role in the development of Nevada's mining industry and was a hub for transportation and commerce during the early 20th century.

5. In 2017, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history took place in Las Vegas. On October 1, a shooter opened fire on a crowd of people attending a music festival on the Las Vegas Strip, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds more. The tragedy shook the state and the country and led to renewed calls for gun control and other measures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
