1. In 1953, the Little Rock Junior College (now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock) was established. The school initially offered classes in Little Rock High School before moving to its current location.

2. On September 12, 1877, a tornado swept through the town of Bismarck, causing significant damage and killing several people. The tornado was part of a larger outbreak that hit Arkansas and the surrounding states.

3. In 1810, the Arkansas Territory was established. At the time, the territory included all of what is now Arkansas, as well as parts of what are now Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming.

4. The Clinton Presidential Center opened in Little Rock on September 12, 2004. The center houses the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum, which houses exhibits and artifacts related to Clinton's presidency.

5. On September 12, 1938, the Southern Tenant Farmers Union was founded in Tyronza, Arkansas. The union was formed to help sharecroppers and tenant farmers improve their economic and political status, and played a significant role in the Civil Rights movement.
