1. In 1954, the first television station in Alabama, WAFM, went on air in Montgomery. The station was later renamed WNCF and is still in operation today.

2. On September 30, 1989, the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Ole Miss Rebels 62-27 in a college football game. The victory was one of the largest in Alabama football history.

3. Tuskegee Airmen inducted into the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame on September 30, 2003. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces.

4. The Alabama State Parks System was established on September 30, 1939, with the creation of Cheaha State Park. Today, Alabama has 21 state parks that offer a variety of outdoor activities and scenic views.

5. In 1959, NASA announced the formation of the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The center became a key player in the development and testing of rockets and spacecraft, and still has an important role in space exploration today.
