Can you tell us about yourself?
I am Alicia Rosenbaum. I teach at McIntosh County Academy. I've been here for 20 years on the coast in Georgia, in Darien, Georgia.
Why did you start a career in education?
I became an educator because I loved English.
If you could have any other job what would it be and why?
If I could do anything other than teach, I would want to be a photographer for national geographic and travel the world.
How are kids different now than 30 years ago?
Kids are different than they were 30 years ago because of technology. I think they're much more wrapped up in the image of things.
How is teaching different now than 30 years ago?
And so that makes teaching a little bit in a little bit different than it was 30 years ago. I guess my teachers did have to be concerned with those things, but they had other issues. So kids are different, but they're not completely different.
What would you tell someone who wants to become a teacher?
You should love everything about influencing the lives of kids.
