1. In 1763, the Treaty of Paris was signed, ending the French and Indian War. The treaty resulted in France ceding control of New France (including much of what is now Canada) to Great Britain.

2. In 1870, the New Jersey State Board of Agriculture was established. The organization's mission was to promote and improve the agricultural industry in the state.

3. In 1933, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority was created. The authority was responsible for planning, constructing, and operating the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike, two major highways in the state.

4. In 1964, the Beatles played their first concert in New Jersey at the Washington Coliseum in Washington, D.C. The concert was part of the band's first U.S. tour.

5. In 1996, the New Jersey State Supreme Court ruled in the case of Lewis v. Harris that same-sex couples were entitled to all the rights and benefits of marriage under the state constitution. This ruling was a major step towards legalizing same-sex marriage in the state, which was eventually accomplished in 2013.
