4. The first rodeo held in Texas occurred on February 17, 1883, in Pecos. The event featured cowboys and cowgirls competing in calf roping, steer wrestling, and bronc riding.

5. On February 17, 1913, the Armory Building in Houston was completed. The building, now known as the Houston Maritime Museum, served as the headquarters for the Texas National Guard and was later used by the United States Army during World War II.
