2. In 1921, the Kellogg Company of Battle Creek, Michigan, introduced its latest creation, Kellogg's Pep. The cereal, which was marketed as the "Sunshine Cereal," contained wheat, corn, oat, and rice flours and was fortified with vitamins and iron.

3. On January 10, 1920, the Detroit Police Department conducted one of the nation's first raids on a speakeasy. The popular nightclub, known as a "blind pig," was located on the city's west side and was believed to be selling illegal alcohol during Prohibition.

4. In 2003, Michigan's state Senate approved a bill allowing residents to carry concealed weapons. The measure was signed into law later that year by Governor Jennifer Granholm, making Michigan the 37th state to permit concealed carry.
