2. In 1911, the first Chevrolet automobile was produced in Detroit, Michigan. The Chevrolet Motor Car Company was founded by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant.

3. In 1995, the National Hockey League announced that Detroit would host the 1995 NHL All-Star Game. The game took place at Joe Louis Arena on January 21, 1995.

4. In 2007, Michigan native and actor John Amos was inducted into the Michigan Walk of Fame. Amos is best known for his role as James Evans Sr. on the television show "Good Times."

5. In 2016, the Michigan State University football team played in the College Football Playoff semifinal game, also known as the Cotton Bowl. The game was played in Arlington, Texas and MSU lost to the University of Alabama.
