1. The Utah War officially ended on June 10, 1858, when President James Buchanan declared peace between the federal government and the state of Utah.
2. The first transcontinental airmail flight landed in Salt Lake City on June 10, 1920. Piloted by Jack Knight, the plane took off from San Francisco and flew to New York City with stops in several other cities along the way.
3. Saltair, a popular resort on the shores of the Great Salt Lake, opened on June 10, 1893. It was originally built as a place for Mormons to swim and escape the summer heat, but later became a popular destination for all Utahns.
4. Utahns celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the state on June 10, 1996. Festivities included parades, concerts, and special events all across the state.
5. Brigham Young University, one of the largest private universities in the United States, was founded on June 10, 1875. Originally called Brigham Young Academy, it later became a university and moved to its current location in Provo.
