3. In 1929, the first drive-in theater in Texas opened in Galveston. The opening night feature was the movie "Syncopation."

4. In 1949, the first Houston Grand Opera production was staged at the Houston Music Hall. The opera was "Madama Butterfly" by Giacomo Puccini.

5. On June 2, 1984, the Kemah Boardwalk opened to the public. The popular amusement park and entertainment complex is located on Galveston Bay and features rides, games, and restaurants.
