1. In 1935, the first annual Texas Folklife Festival was held in San Antonio. The festival celebrates the diverse ethnic and cultural traditions of Texas.

2. On June 3, 1947, the deadliest tornado in Texas history struck the towns of Higgins and Glazier in the Texas Panhandle, killing 181 people and injuring over 900.

3. The first Texas State Golf Championship was held on June 3, 1922, at the Houston Country Club. The championship is one of the oldest continuously-running golf tournaments in the United States.

4. On June 3, 1965, astronaut Edward H. White II became the first American to walk in space during the Gemini 4 mission. White, a native of San Antonio, spent 21 minutes outside the spacecraft.

5. The Texas Revolution officially ended on June 3, 1836, with the signing of the Treaty of Velasco. The treaty recognized the independence of Texas from Mexico and established the boundaries of the new republic.
