1) In 1829, Wisconsin's first newspaper, the Green Bay Intelligencer, was published on March 25. It was founded by Albert Ellis and Lemuel W. Weeks.

2) On March 25, 1837, the Wisconsin Territorial Legislature approved the founding of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Classes officially began in 1849 and the university is now one of the largest and most prestigious in the United States.

3) The Eau Claire Fire of 1889, one of the largest fires in Wisconsin history, started on March 25 and destroyed much of the city's downtown area. It is believed to have been caused by sparks from a chimney on a warm and windy day.

4) In 1911, the Wisconsin Legislature passed a law prohibiting the sale of cigarettes to minors under the age of 16, becoming one of the first states in the nation to do so. The law went into effect on March 25 of that year.

5) On March 25, 1971, Wisconsin Governor Patrick Lucey signed a bill legalizing a limited form of medicinal marijuana, making Wisconsin one of the first states to do so. The law allowed doctors to prescribe marijuana to patients with glaucoma, cancer, and other serious illnesses. However, the law was never fully implemented due to federal restrictions on the use of marijuana.
