1. In 1869, the Wyoming Territory was established on March 25th. Prior to that, the area had been part of the Dakota, Utah, and Idaho territories. The decision to create Wyoming Territory was made in response to the need for a government presence in the area as more people began to settle there.

2. On March 25th, 1937, the infamous "Black Blizzard" hit Wyoming and other Great Plains states. It was a severe dust storm caused by a combination of drought and poor farming practices, which resulted in the topsoil becoming dry and easily blown away. The storm caused extensive damage and health problems for those caught in it.

3. The University of Wyoming was established on March 25th, 1886, when the Wyoming Territorial Legislature passed a bill creating the university. The first classes were held in September of that year, with just a handful of students. Today, the university has over 12,000 students and offers a wide range of degree programs.

4. One of Wyoming's most famous residents was born on March 25th, 1925. Larry McMurtry grew up on a ranch in Archer City, Texas, but spent much of his adult life in Wyoming. He went on to become a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, best known for his novels "Lonesome Dove" and "Terms of Endearment."

5. On March 25th, 1870, the first women jurors in the United States served on a federal jury in Laramie, Wyoming. The women were Esther Morris, Louisa Swain, Ellen Green, and Amelia Post. Morris had been instrumental in getting Wyoming's suffrage law passed in 1869, which made it the first U.S. territory to grant women the right to vote.
