1. On March 29, 1827, the first granite quarry in Concord, NH was opened. This helped launch the granite industry in the state, which eventually became one of its most important economic drivers.
2. The town of Antrim, NH was incorporated on March 29, 1777, making it one of the oldest towns in southwestern New Hampshire. It was named after Antrim, Ireland.
3. On March 29, 1909, the first YMCA in Nashua, NH was established. Over the years, it has provided a wide variety of recreational and educational opportunities for people of all ages.
4. The town of Sandwich, NH celebrates "Maple Month" every March, and on March 29, 2014, it held a Maple Sugaring Day at the Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm. Visitors were able to see how maple syrup is made and taste some of the finished product.
5. On March 29, 1865, the New Hampshire State Legislature ratified the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution, which abolished slavery in the United States. New Hampshire was one of the first states to ratify the amendment, which was officially adopted by the federal government later that year.
