1. In 1887, the Idaho State Legislature approved the establishment of the Idaho Industrial School for Boys in St. Anthony, Idaho. The school was designed as a reform school for wayward boys and operated until 1949.

2. In 1895, the Idaho State Capitol Building was completed in Boise. The building was designed in the neoclassical style and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

3. In 1912, Idaho became one of the first states to allow women to vote in a presidential election. Prior to this, only a few states had granted women suffrage in state elections.

4. In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared a national bank holiday in response to the Great Depression. The holiday closed all banks across the United States, including those in Idaho.

5. In 1983, the Teton Dam, located in eastern Idaho, failed catastrophically, causing a massive flood that devastated the surrounding area. The failure was attributed to design and construction flaws, and is considered one of the worst engineering disasters in U.S. history.
