1. On May 29, 1848, the first convention for women’s rights was held in New Jersey. This convention was organized by philosopher and feminist, Margaret Fuller, and led to the formation of the first women’s rights group in the state.

2. May 29, 1916, was the birthdate of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. Although Kennedy was born in Massachusetts, his family had strong ties to New Jersey, as his father owned a summer home in Palm Beach, which was accessible by ferry from Cape May.

3. In 1970, New Jersey became the first state to conduct mandatory roadside sobriety tests. This law, which required drivers suspected of driving under the influence to perform sobriety tests such as walking heel to toe or standing on one leg, helped to reduce drunk driving accidents in the state.
