4. In 1971, the Kentucky Educational Television (KET) network went on the air for the first time. KET was the first statewide educational television network in the United States.

5. In 2006, the Kentucky Wildcats football team defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 17-12 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The victory gave Kentucky its first win over Tennessee in 22 years and helped the Wildcats finish the season with an 8-5 record.
