1) In 1900, the state's first public library was established in Stillwater on November 3rd, which would go on to become one of 370 libraries in the Minnesota library system today.
2) On November 3, 1948, Minnesota voters elected Hubert H. Humphrey to the U.S. Senate, launching his long and influential political career. Humphrey would ultimately become Vice President of the United States under Lyndon B. Johnson.
3) November 3, 1970 marked the founding of the Minnesota Environmental Quality Council, which aimed to improve the state's environmental policies and protect natural resources for future generations.
4) In 1992, on November 3rd, Minnesota became the first state in the nation to elect a woman, Karen Louise Nyberg, to Congress. She represented the 8th District for two terms.
