4. In 1976, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis was completed. The iconic structure stands 630 feet tall and is the tallest arch in the world.

5. In 2018, President Donald Trump held a rally in Springfield, Missouri, during which he endorsed Republican Senate candidate Josh Hawley. Hawley went on to defeat incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill in the November election.
